SOLES FOR AFRICAN FOUNDATION was formed in 2015 with aim of providing affordable shoes to disadvantaged children from both informal settlements and rural parts of Africa, beginning from Kenya. The decision to choose shoes was informed by the background life of the co-founders, who rose from less privileged childhood, walking barefoot throughout their junior school, to where they are currently.
The Foundation intention is to reach as many children as possible by provide them with a pair of shoes, these shoes has a life span that they can last hence need for replacement. The mission of the foundation would be meaningless if the same child given a pair of shoes become shoe less after one year.
The foundation is seeking to empower these families with sustainable source of income so that they are in a position to re-purchase new pair of shoes and also feed themselves since it is more likely that a family who cannot afford a pair of shoes is hardly able to afford two meals a day.
