The soul of who we are is our commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children in Africa. We believe that every child deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their circumstances or backgrounds. Our work is focused on providing education, healthcare, and other essential support to children who are orphaned, living in poverty, or facing other challenges. Know UsThe basis of our theory of change makes us who we are. For our goals to be met, every should thrive, regardless of their circumstances or backgrounds. We understand that there are many factors that contribute to the wellbeing of a child, including access to basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing, as well as emotional and social support. That’s why we take a holistic approach to our work and strive to address all aspects of a child’s life. Thius, we found our core in the debacle of the African child.

Who We Are

What Makes Us Who We Are

Having in mind a lot more is happening behind the comfort of city lives, the heart and soul of Sole for African Child is kickstarting needy children with shoes for their soles.

The distance African children travel to and from school every day can vary significantly depending on a range of factors, such as their location, the availability of schools in their area, and the mode of transportation they use. In some cases, children in rural areas may have to walk several miles each way to reach the nearest school, while those in urban areas may have access to public transportation or school buses.

Additionally, factors such as poverty, conflict, and gender inequality also impact children’s access to education and their ability to travel to school. Though primary purpose was impacting underprivileged children with the ability to walk in their unique perspective, we also empower historically marginalized ommunities.

We started Sole for African Child activities back in 2014 as a small group of friends with the same passion. We believed it’s not the organization that works but the people in the organization. Our dream was to impact the African child and it’s community with the little we had in our pockets.

The smiles on the children’s faces kept us going on.

To engage more people and impact more souls with a comphrensive approach, we incorporated Soles for African Child Foundation in 2017.

The culture at Sole for African Child is focused on creating positive social impact and helping children in need without discrimination. It involves a strong sense of community and collaboration among the organization’s executives and volunteers, including students, professionals, and entrepreneurs. Notwithstanding, a dedication to transparency and accountability in all operations, diversity, equity and inclusion.

Check out our home page for the specific set of core values and guiding principles that inform the mission of the organization and approach to our work. Overall, the culture at Sole for African Child Foundation reflects our commitment to making a difference in the lives of African children and families, and to creating a more equitable and just world for all.

Building a Better Tomorrow
for the Home of the African Child

Our Mission

Sole for African Child is dedicated to empowering children from vulnerable communities across Africa by providing essential school items, supporting children with disabilities, promoting girls' education, and fostering women's empowerment. Through these efforts, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and create a brighter future for all.

Who we Are

Millions of children make their way through life impoverished, abandoned, uneducated, malnourished, discriminated against, neglected and vulnerable. For them life is a daily struggle to survive. This is what defines who we are at the home of the African child because these children’s childhood – a time to grow, learn, play and feel safe – is in effect meaningless.

Our Story

Sole for African Child was founded in 2015 with the belief that every child deserves a chance to succeed. We started our journey by providing shoes to children who could not afford them, recognizing that a simple pair of shoes can make a significant difference in a child's life. As we grew, we expanded our reach to include other essential school items, such as uniforms, books, and stationery, ensuring that children from low-income families had the tools they needed to learn and thrive.

Our commitment to inclusion led us to focus on supporting children with disabilities. We provide wheelchairs, crutches, and other walking aids to help these children access education and participate fully in their communities. We also work closely with local schools to ensure that they are equipped to accommodate children with special needs.

Recognizing the unique challenges faced by girls in many African communities, we launched a program to provide sanitary towels to girls in need. This initiative has helped to keep girls in school during their menstrual cycles, reducing absenteeism and improving their overall educational outcomes.

Women's empowerment is another key pillar of our work. We believe that by supporting women, we can create a ripple effect that benefits entire communities. Through our skills training programs and small business grants, we help women develop sustainable livelihoods, enabling them to support their children's education and reducing the likelihood of school dropouts. Finally, we are committed to environmental conservation as a means of promoting inclusive education and waste management. We work with local communities to implement sustainable practices, such as recycling and waste reduction, and use these efforts as educational opportunities for children and adults alike.

We advocate for African children, in addition to protecting and serving them. Together with our partners, we strive to make life better for the African child.

At Sole for African Child, we believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty and creating a more just and equitable world. Through our holistic approach to supporting children and their communities, we are making a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of people across Africa.

Our Objectives

We focus on preventative measures to reach underprivileged children in Africa through program and initiatives for:

  • Reducing school dropout rates
  • Community water, sanitation and hygiene facilitation (WASH)
  • Reducing bad health care practices
  • Empowering widows and single mothers
  • Mitigation of climate change impact on society
  • Improving the livelihoods of marginalised communities

Through our work, we hope to create a brighter future for African children and their communities, and inspire others to join us in making a difference.
